How each paper is built
Every paper draws 5 questions from each of the four parts, including all 5 values questions from Part 4, then reshuffles every question's options — the position of an answer never carries information, on any attempt.

About the Australian citizenship test
What is in the Australian citizenship test?
Twenty multiple-choice questions on the testable section of the booklet Australian Citizenship: Our Common Bond, in four parts: Australia and its people; Australia's democratic beliefs, rights and liberties; government and the law in Australia; and Australian values. The time limit is 45 minutes.
What score do you need to pass?
At least 15 of the 20 questions correct — 75 per cent — and all five of the questions on Australian values. Get any values question wrong and the test is failed, whatever the overall score. This practice test applies both rules.
How is this practice test different from the real one?
The questions are original, written from the booklet — they are not the official questions, and this site is independent of the Australian Government. The real test is sat at an appointment arranged by the Department of Home Affairs; this one runs in your browser, free and without sign-up, and every attempt draws a fresh paper, so you can take it as often as you like.
How should I prepare?
Read the testable section of Our Common Bond — the real questions are based on it — and practise until you pass comfortably with every values question right. Before your appointment, also take the Department of Home Affairs' free official practice test.
